Brokeback Mountain
A spare and beautiful story that encompasses two lives - or perhaps, two lives not lived - in only 54 pages. the rough, unaffected dialogue of the cowboys contrasted with soaring and detailed descriptions of their surroundings make each other more poignant by the differences. Ennis's stoicism breaks my heart - "If you can't fix it you've got to stand it." - and pretty much sums up the lives of both him and Jack.Gorgeous, amazing writing; incredible story.
